So what’s the deal with soy?

Home » Health Awareness » So what’s the deal with soy?

Soy is super popular with Vegetarians,
Pescetarian and Vegans.

And for people who think it is healthy.

It has been marketed as a “healthy” product

So is it?

Let’s put it under the microscope…

It is becoming increasingly common to find soy in
baby formula milk and a lot of processed
foods, meat products, cheeses and biscuits.

I have at least 5 questions a day
about SOY and SOYA
milk and every time I do a talk so
here is the low down…..

Read on if you think a Soya Latte is healthy.

The reasons why we don’t promote soya on KSFL:

It’s a real baddy and here is why if you want to THRIVE
cut out the Soy.

Reason 1: It contains phytic acid
. That is a compound that depletes nutrients and it wrecks havoc on mineral absorption.
Most people already have poor digestion. Soy makes the situation worse.

Reason 2: Soy contains oxalic acid
Oxalic also depletes nutrients by binding to calcium, magnesium and iron, thus decreasing the absorption of these vital nutrients.

Reason 3: It is most likely coming from a GMO source
The Center for Food Safety estimates that 91 percent of the soybeans sold on the market are from a GMO source.

Reason 4: It is a feminizing agent
Because of its phytoestrogen content, men in particular, should avoid it unless droopy breast tissue, sexual dysfunction, reduced pilosity are on their goal list.

Reason 5: It disrupts the thyroid
The goitrogenic content of soy products interfere with thyroid function as it disrupts iodine absorption.
A drop in thyroid function eventually leads to fat gain.

Reason 6: Soy creates digestive issues.
Soy milk is high in oligosaccharides, a carbohydrate that most people have a hard time breaking down, thus creating gastric discomfort, bloating, and wind.

Reason 7: It contains too much manganese
Soy is processed in manganese vats, which leaks into the product. Manganese in excessive amounts is neurotoxic, hence the association made between soy products and attention deficit disorder.

Soy is high in phytoestrogens.

These are plant based estrogens that mimic estrogens in out body.
Interestingly over the last ten years there have been a lot of studies saying how fantastic phytoestrogens are for you well guess who funded the studies – the Soy industry.

BUT
Independent research shows that consuming phytoestrogens is dangerous for the human body.

If you eat a high estrogenic diet your chances of breast cancer, endometriosis, infertility, low libido is massively increased because you end up with estrogen dominance.

Soy and The Thyroid

Soya is goitrogenic basically this means it will destroy a thyroid.
Goitrogenic is thyroid suppressing.
Soy is king of the jungle of goitrogenic foods.
They work by preventing the thyroid from getting the necessary amount of iodine.
The iodine is essential for Thyroid health.
If your thyroid fails and you are on thyroxine you are
probably overweight or find your weight going up quite rapidly.

You have harder time regulating your moods, you get colds more, tired quicker, harder to concentrate.
You struggle to remember details.
Once you start upsetting the thyroid balance your battle
against fat loss is a nightmare and soy
can be an contributing factor to this.

Phytates they are enzyme inhibitors that block the mineral absorption in the human digestive tract.
They are naturally present in all grains, seeds, nuts. Soy is so high in phytates it is almost impossible to get rid of them.

I know that is a LOT to take on board!

As always, my goal at KSFL is to arm YOU

with all the facts,
enabling you to make up your mind on your
food choices, for health and fat loss.

Hope this is useful to you 🙂
